Boston, we have a problem, do you copy?

FSF answers: "Freely!"

*waves wing and spins about in outer space*

Mission control, this is Freedo, the spokespenguin for GNU Linux-libre,
and I have an announcement to make, but in space, no one can hear me
clean. Not without your help anyway. Could you please relay the
announcement to other earthlings?

*crackling radio sounds inside Freedo's spacesuit*

FSF answers: "Affirmative!"

*zap*

We were performing a routine sweep of the new kernel and we encountered
a dense field of proprietary debris and non-free firmware requests
drifting through the drivers sector...

FSF answers: "Watch out, this has long been a bad sector. So much
ancient dirty junk floating about... And plenty of newer undesirable
fragments too!"

# Cleaning up

Freelix, the GNU cat, is currently monitoring the command module,
keeping the navigation locked onto software freedom, while I'm out on an
EVA. We've got the deblobbing ray set to maximum. It's working hard
today, but it's holding up!

*zap*

- iwlwifi MLD's blob names and requests have been zapped.

*zap* *zap* *zap*

- New blob names in amdgpu, adreno, TI PRUeth, air_en8811h, ath12k, TI
VPE, rtw8852b, rt1320, rt5575 SPI, tas2783, and Intel catpt have been
zapped.

*zap* *zap*

- Devicetree documentation files Airoha NPU, Qualcomm/Atheros Bluetooth,
and TI hms-m4fss have been cleaned up.

*zap* *zap* *zap* *zap* *zap*

- Lots of new dts files have had blob names zapped.

*silence*

- rt5514 cleaning up commands have been moved, unchanged.

# Announcement

The flight path for this release is now looking clear, and the news
entries are prepped in the airlock. The source code is free, and ready
for deployment. Freelix, please open the airlock.

*meow*

Boston, can you see me now? The ROF-certified space drone has returned
to the shuttle, and the picture Jason Self remotely took with it, while
I was zapping blobs, should be visible from the website now.

What is GNU Linux-libre?
------------------------

GNU Linux-libre is a Free version of the kernel Linux (see below),
suitable for use with the GNU Operating System in 100% Free
  GNU/Linux-libre System Distributions.
  http://www.gnu.org/distros/

It removes non-Free components from Linux, that are disguised as
source code or distributed in separate files. It also disables
run-time requests for non-Free components, shipped separately or as
part of Linux, and documentation pointing to them, so as to avoid
(Free-)baiting users into the trap of non-Free Software.
  http://www.fsfla.org/anuncio/2010-11-Linux-2.6.36-libre-debait

Linux-libre started within the gNewSense GNU/Linux distribution.
It was later adopted by Jeff Moe, who coined its name, and in 2008
it became a project maintained by FSF Latin America. In 2012, it
became part of the GNU Project.

The GNU Linux-libre project takes a minimal-changes approach to
cleaning up Linux, making no effort to substitute components that
need to be removed with functionally equivalent Free ones.
Nevertheless, we encourage and support efforts towards doing so.

Our mascot is Freedo, a light-blue penguin that has just come out
of the shower. Although we like penguins, GNU is a much greater
contribution to the entire system, so its mascot deserves more
promotion. See our web page for their images.

If you are the author of an awesome program and want to join us in
writing Free (libre) Software, please consider making it an official
GNU program and become a GNU Maintainer. You can find instructions
on how to do so at https://www.gnu.org/help/evaluation. We look
forward to hacking with you! :)
