Reverse engineering binary firmware

Hello,

If someone here is maintaining a list of firmware to reverse-engineer
that Mr Stallman talked about, there is also zd1211 firmware, which can
be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=129083&filename=zd1211-firmware-1.4.tar.bz2

List of cards that depend on it is available at:
http://www.linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/zd1211rw/devices

The README file reads:

"The files are generated from C header files distributed in the
original ZyDAS ZD1211 driver under the GNU Public License.

The full source of the original ZYDAS driver is available from
http://zd1211.wiki.sourceforge.net/VendorDriver

The GPL-licensed header files used to produce the firmware blobs are
also
present in this distribution. See the COPYING file for the full license
terms."

COPYING file = GNU GPL v2

I'm not a programmer myself (at least not yet), but I thought this info
might be useful to somebody anyway.

Regards,

Tomek Chrzczonowicz
