Subject: [Info-gplv3] Announcing the Second International Conference on
GPLv3
Date: Tue, 21 Feb 2006 10:30:49 -0500

Judging by the number of people who downloaded the video we released
last week from the GPLv3 draft release (http://gplv3.fsf.org/av),
there were quite a few of you who wanted to attend the conference but
could not. Maybe you couldn't make it because it was too far to
travel, or maybe you were (understandably) deterred by the gantlet one
has to run to enter the United States.

We're pleased to announce the next in our series of international
conferences, and we hope that you will join us. The Second
International Conference on GPLv3 will occur as part of the
International Free Software Forum 7.0 in Porto Alegra/RS, Brazil. The
Forum runs from April 19th to April 22nd. The GPLv3 portion will take
place on April 21st and 22nd. Read more about the conference at
<http://www.fsf.org/news/gplv3brazil>.

You might also be interested in attending FOSS Means Business in
Belfast, Northern Ireland, on March 16th. Richard Stallman will be
speaking on GPLv3 as part of the event. See
<http://foss-means-business.org> for further information.

Stallman will also be speaking about the GPLv3 on March 18th in
Torino, Italy, at a conference organized by FSF Europe.

For more information on all of these events, please keep an eye on the
Event Planning section of the GPLv3 wiki at
<http://gplv3.fsf.org/wiki/index.php/Event_Planning>.

In addition to planning these events, we have been working on
enhancements and fixes to the commenting system. You can now indicate
your agreement with comments that have been left by others just by
clicking "agree". If ideas have occurred to you while discussing with
friends at a free software event or while reading news coverage of the
process, please spend some time at <http://gplv3.fsf.org/comments>
recording them. It's great that discussions about the license have
been happening throughout the software-using world, but it's also
important that we do our best to record these discussions in a way
that will make them easily accessible during the drafting and revision
process. Comments can also be submitted via e-mail; there are
instructions at <http://gplv3.fsf.org/comment/email.html>.

Please support the continuation of this process by making a donation
at <https://www.fsf.org/donate>, or by becoming an FSF associate
member at <http://member.fsf.org>. Now is a good time to join, because
our annual membership meeting is coming up soon on April 1st in
Cambridge, Massachusetts. There are also still t-shirts and hoodies
with the GPLv3 logo available at
<http://www.gnu.org/gear/gplv3-tshirt.html>.
